TOSCOT collaborates with communities and organisations across Scotland to create radical, high-quality theatre rooted in the global tradition of Theatre of the Oppressed. Drawing on established methods such as Forum Theatre, Legislative Theatre, and new methods like rhythm/rhyme/hip hop, we co-create performances that invite audiences to talk back, challenge oppressive structures and build more resilient communities.

Centering Liberation

“The representation of Black and global majority artists in paid leadership positions within Theatre, culture, heritage and the creativity sector in Scotland, remains minimal and lack of representation perpetuates a broader trend of male and white dominance. While opportunities abound, the absence of diverse paid decision-makers undermines true inclusivity and perpetuates systemic inequalities. Recognising the urgency for change, TOSCOT is committed to making a meaningful difference in cultural spaces by actively advocating for and facilitating out-of-silence groups. Through our dedication to transformative justice equity, through anti-racism training and theatre and workshops, we aim to foster a more diverse and representative arts community that reflects the rich tapestry of Scotland's cultural landscape.”

TOSCOT invites critical thinking.
It is about analysing rather than accepting, questioning rather than giving answers.

It is about taking action — “acting” rather than just talking.
The audience is not made of passive spectators but instead active “spect-actors.”
Collectively discovering solutions to societal issues.

Anti Racist Training, Forum theatre &drama classes Scotland.

Founded by Khaleda Noon, Theatre of the Oppressed Scotland & Hip Hop ED (TOSCOT) is a non-profit Community Interest Company. Here is a wee snippet showcasing the transformative work of TOSCOT, a dynamic initiative that uses theatre as a tool for social change. Through participatory performances and workshops, TOSCOT helps individuals and communities explore and challenge issues of oppression, inequality, and injustice. By engaging audiences in active dialogue, TOSCOT fosters empathy, raises awareness, and sparks collective action, creating a platform for marginalised voices to be heard. Watch as we bring stories to life, encourage reflection, and inspire change through the power of theatre.
